Dzeko and Palmieri are getting closer to Chelsea
Chelsea are still locked in talks with AS Roma over signing of Emerson Palmieri and Edin Dzeko this January. According to reports, Chelsea and AS Roma have agreed a joint fee of about €50m but bonus fee remains unsolved.
According to Sky Sports Italia, Chelsea will have a meeting today with AS Roma with the purpose of reaching an agreement for the bonus fee for the two players, as Chelsea are reluctant to accept AS Roma's terms which stands at approximately €10m.
Dzeko and Palmieri are still likely to be in Roma's squad for their midweek game against Sampdoria.
According to AS Roma's manager, Dzeko's availability will depend on the outcome of his meeting with the striker later today: “Everybody is eligible to play tomorrow. Every player that I have right now is contracted with Roma and everybody is focused on the Sampdoria game. As of today Dzeko will start tomorrow but I have to talk to him. We’ll decide together what’s the best thing to do. He is a player of Roma and I think he must play if he is fit. De Rossi? He is not likely to play tomorrow.”
“Schick and Defrel could replace Dzeko but at the moment he is our main striker. I think about what Monchi said last week and I can only say that transfers are decided by the club. In the future [if Dzeko leaves] we could sign a new centre forward of a winger.”
“I never run away from problems, managers can’t discuss about certain issues sometimes, it doesn’t matter if I agree or if I don’t agree [with Dzeko’s sale], I am the manager of Roma and I’ll cover this role till the end.”
"Schick can be a good replacement for Dzeko but must be more determined and have more self-confidence." he said
Meanwhile, Dzeko was spotted while loading his suitcases this morning and that could be the final evidence that his move to Stamford Bridge is getting closer but not expected to be over until after Roma's match with Sampdoria tomorrow night.
