Calhanoglu to sign for Chelsea next season
BAYER LEVERKUSEN playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu has dropped a massive hint that he will be joining Chelsea next season during an interview with the daily Turkish newspaper Fanatik.
“God willing, I will be a Chelsea player next season,” Calhanoglu told the Fanatik.
The Bayer Leverkusen maestro also revealed that several other clubs are also interested in his services
Calhanoglu said, “There are also a number of other clubs interested in signing me.”
The Turkey international is currently serving a four-month ban from FIFA following a breach of contract.
Calhanoglu’s family originate from Bayburt, a region close to the Trabzon province. The Black Sea-based side claim that Calhanoglu and his father who was and still is representing him took a payment of €100,000 payment each from the club when he was 17 to sign a professional contract.
The Turkish international playmaker and his father deny the claims but the row rumbled on for years before the FIFA decision was announced last week to issue the suspension.
Calhanoglu will now miss the remainder of the season for Bayer Leverkusen.
