Conte hails important victory over Man City

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has hailed Chelsea’s  2-1 victory over Manchester City at Stamford Bridge as a very important step towards winning the league title.

Hazard opened the scoring for the Blues before Sergio Aguero equalized, thereafter Pedro was brought down in the box by Fabian Delph leaving Hazard to score his second from the spot, off a rebound after City’s goalkeeper, Caballero had saved his initial effort.

The second half saw no more goals but Antonio Conte knows the importance of holding on, to secure the victory after Saturday's disappointing loss to Crystal Palace: "It’s a big win for us, it wasn’t easy but when you play against City it is normal to suffer in some part of the game. I think we started as a team in the right way. At the start it was very open, with chances one side and the other side, usually I don’t like this because I want more balance.

"In the second half I think we defended very well with a good balance. It was a good win for us. When you play after a bad defeat against Crystal Palace where I think we didn't deserve to lose in this part of the season it is not easy because the pressure is very high. To drop points in this moment it is not good."

"For sure this is a good win at an important time of the season. Playing against City is not easy, they are a top team. They have a great squad with a lot of great players a great coach, I think the best in the world. When you have that combination it is very tough to win and to win at this part of the season is great. We have to think about the next game but we took three points as did Spurs." He concluded
