Hiddink: This Is Why Hazard Underperformed Last Season

Two-time interim coach of Chelsea, Guus Hiddink has opened up on what he felt hampered the performance of Eden Hazard last season.

Hazard was one of the culprits pick out by Chelsea fans along with Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa as the player who forced Jose Mourinho out of the door at Chelsea last term.

According to the man who replaced Jose Mourinho on interim capacity, Guus Hiddink, Eden Hazard had many problems which includes injuries and it made it difficult for the Belgian to play at his best.

He said: "Costa, Hazard, Fabregas were being booed. I didn’t know what their role was with Mourinho. And I didn’t ask. I said to the players, ‘Don’t come with stories about the past.’ Because then it becomes, ‘Did he mistreat you?’ All that."

"(Hazard) came back in my last three or four games, the old Hazard. Maybe he was affected by people saying he was to blame for the Mourinho situation. Also, he had injuries. But I think he can go to the level of the big two, Messi and Ronaldo. He can turn on 10 square inches. He has a 360- degree radar"
