Sampaoli: I left Chile for Chelsea
Former Chile turned Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli has claimed that he left the club to become Chelsea manager after a fallout with the Chilean FA but Chelsea owner finally settled for Antonio Conte.
He said: “It was like a tsunami of events, a really turbulent period. The Chilean Federation wanted to keep me no matter what.
“But I explained I could not stay as there was a chance of becoming Chelsea manager
“I had other options but when Mr [Roman] Abramovich came to talk I was high on his list and then came the decision to go with [Antonio] Conte.”
Sampaoli has always insisted that Language barrier was the only reason why he lost the job to Conte. Fortunately won't bother Chelsea fans as their club is about to win their second English Premier League title in 3 years.
