Conte refuses to blame anyone for the loss to Crystal Palace
Chelsea suffered their 4th defeat of the season after losing 1-2 to Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. It was a difficult afternoon for Chelsea after the international break. Fabregas opening goal was canceled out by Wilfred Zaha before Christian Benteke put the visitors ahead few minutes later.
Antonio Conte alternative his usual shape, played 3-5-2 with Fabregas in place of Willian as Pedro filled-in for injured Victor Moses at right wing back. Despite the disappointment of not getting anything out of the game, Conte refused to make excuses or blame anyone for the loss but thought Chelsea deserved at least a draw.
Conte said: "I think today we deserved at least to draw, I don't want to say to win but to draw. We created many chances to score, we dominated the game against a team very strong with really good players. It is a pity, but I think today it wasn't our day."
According to Antonio Conte, Pedro who deputized for Victor Moses did a good job.
"Victor is an important player for us, he is playing a great season. I think Pedro played very well in that position as wing-back. To play as a wing-back as a winger like Pedro and Moses is more offensive [minded]. It shows we want to play always football and win every game. But I repeat Pedro played well for me."
The Italian tactician is already looking forward to Wednesday's match against Manchester City to make amends of today's poor result.
"We have to play on Wednesday against Manchester City, we all know the strength of this team. Now the most important thing is to rest and recover very well, to prepare in the right way. In England there is no tough game and easy game, you could see today against Crystal Palace. Every game will be very tough, for now until the end. If the team is Manchester City or against a team fighting against the relegation zone."
